Name: Qwiki
What: Qwiki is kind of like Wikipedia except is in video form, more like a story. It is used to search up information and when u find the topic you want you click on the video watch it and learn from it. You can either learn from the video or you can read it from the bottom of the video. They basically give you information however you want it. They give you pictures and everything, they also give you embed codes so you can post it on ur blog or your website. This is a working website so every day they come up with new features.
Features: Whats good about it is that you don't have to read you can just watch the video and you can learn from it. Some people get really bored just reading a textbook or a dictionary so Qwiki was invented so you would learn in a story telling way and like that you can learn without being bored. A lot of people cant learn by just reading a book so Qwiki was made so you can learn by watching a video with pictures, you can pause it so you wont feel that all the information is being just shooting on you. You can watch the video at your own pace and you can watch it how many times you want until you get the information.
Criticism: The negative thing about my website is that, its just an alpha which means that they are barely starting and they don't have a whole lot of information, also since they are barely starting they might not have the topic you want or if they do they have very little information over it. Another thing is that it dosent have a manuscript you would have to put the video in pause and then you would read the information. Those are some of the things that qwiki is flawed in. Also some other websites may have more information so it wouldnt be good to use Qwiki as a primary source.
Educational use: My Web 2.0 could be useful because its a source of information. Just like they use the dictionaries in the classrooms for words, they can use Qwiki to define places people and, just different things that they are interested in. It can mainly be useful in history because it explains events, the history of different places and it also defines words. The only differences is that its on;ine rather than in a textbook. It would be a good search engine if you want a quick review of your topic and also if you if you want to learn new information.
